Physiological Resilience Training.
Physiological resilience training is a process that allows you to learn how to recognize your body’s response to stress, mindfulness, physical and emotional pain,. You will learn evidence based techniques to better manage the physiological expressions of anxiety and stress.
Becoming more aware of your body will allow you to better self-regulate your body, thoughts, and emotions, while promoting a healthier and happier life.
Physiological Awareness allow you to improve sleep, decrease brain’s reactivity to stress, and facilitate neuroplasticity by promoting new pathways in the brain, and conditioning your body and mind synchrony.
Breathing is a mechanical tool that influence the heart rate. Changes in heart rate influence the sympathetic nervous system, which tells the flight-or-flight to "turn on" when there is perceived threat.
The goal is to use a slow paces breathing technique as a tool to help you teach your brain new ways of responding to stress. Hopefully, you will become more aware of what is triggering your body into a stress mode, and be able to make the necessary changes to minimize that response.
What mediates the relationship between the brain and the body? The mind (i.e., the thoughts). Once you learn how to read your body's cues and learn what you need to do to reduce physiological stress, you should be able to normalize the fear of experiencing stress, and eventualy feel more relaxed while increasing physiological resilience.
Coaching is not to be confused with psychotherapy. In psychotherapy you will discuss the emotions and behaviors that are interfering with your ability to live your life to the fullest, and the psychotherapist will give you psychologically based interventions to help you deal with current and old emotions or traumas. In coaching there is a different dynamic as we work as a team and reach decisions together. You can still share your thoughts and feelings, but instead of doing any psychological interventions, we will offer you compassionate support while helping you identify productive, healthy, and helpful ways to find solutions to undesired situation. The focus is on how you can make changes moving forward, and not trying to find solutions to what has passed. We can also help you identify the areas of your life that are not aligned with your personal goals and help you develop strategies that will help you make the necessary life changes for you to successfully achieve goals related to your personal life, career, and health.
.
In combination with biofeedback life coaching can help you identify the situations in which stress, anxiety, and pain are interfering with your motivation to implement these changes. Together we will develop the strategies you believe you can adopt that will motivate you to steer your life confidently in the direction of your dreams,
As we mentioned in the physiological resilience training section, the mind mediates the relationship between the brain and the body. When you experience a stressful situation, ask yourself "What is the story I am telling myself about the situation?" The story you tell will create either negative or positive outcomes, and this will determine how your brain will either tell your body there is the need to prepare from danger, or tell the fight-or-flight system to take a break and let you relax.
The interesting thing about the brain is that it does not know if you are experiencing a real life-threatening situation that requires you to be in flight-or-flight mode, or if you are simply entertaining a worry thought. Both will get the brain to prepare your body for fight-or-flight.
As we work together with the life coaching part of the program, we will enrich you with information such as this to help you better understand questions such as "why is my body reacting this way?" and "what can I do to change it?" The life coaching portion of the program will help you obtain the information you need to answer these questions, and empower yourself to not allow the physiological expressions of fear and stress to dictate how you live your life,
Whenever we reach a milestone where either of us believe the support you need is outside the scope of our practice, this is the time we will consider referring you to professionals that are qualified to offer you the help you need. You do not need to accept the referrals as they are mainly suggestions to help you.
